Ben is a lifelong resident of East Central Indiana. Born and raised in Jay County, Ben graduated from Jay County High School in 2005. Ben attended college at Ohio Northern University in Ada Ohio. He graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration in May of 2009.

Ben married his high school sweetheart, Whitney (Schemenaur) Freeman, in June of 2009. Ben went to work in banking while Whitney began her career as a high school English teacher. They celebrated the birth of their daughter in 2011.

In April of 2012, Ben entered an accelerated law program at the University of Dayton School of Law. He graduated in May of 2014 with a Juris Doctorate earning magna cum laude honors. In November of 2014, Ben went to work as an associate attorney for Beasley & Gilkison LLP in Muncie. He built a civil law practice focusing primarily on litigation. Ben and Whitney moved their family, including their newborn son, to Albany in the summer of 2015.

Ben joined Beasley & Gilkison as a partner in 2019. In addition to his civil practice, Ben and his firm serve as the City Attorneys for the City of Muncie. Ben also serves as legal counsel to the Delaware County Council. Outside of work, Ben served on the Board of Christian Ministries and the Board of Trustees of the Garden At Gethsemane UMC. He currently serves as President of the Muncie Industrial Revolving Loan Fund Board and is a member of the Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County’s Impact Investing Committee.
